Women of the Watershed
A young woman journeys to the source of the Everglades headwaters to better understand the historic challenges of water management and pollution that now threaten this fragile ecosystem. Along the way she will meet a new generation of advocates who are redefining the balance of women in conservation.
Chloe Barnett was born at the edge of a Great Swamp and was immediately connected to the water at an early age. She would follow her passion for conservation through participation in beach cleanups, coral restoration and environmental advocacy for the swamp she calls home. Her purpose is to engage the women leading these efforts by understanding the divergent priorities that have limited a truly effective recovery. This journey will take Chloe from Florida Bay, through the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee, and up through the Kissimmee River Basin to find the source of the Everglades headwaters to better understand the root cause of these issues.
